" The Rocky Mountain run past the “lookout" is a super run that has some great trail running, great views and a spectacular abseil thrown into the mix too. At only 9km, the run is quite short but there is quite a bit of climb and competitors will be feeling the effects of the prior 5 stages. Keep focused and keep your eyes on the prize, from the top you can see the finish line! "

STAGE 6 - Run/ABSEIL

Competitors enjoy a relatively flat run for a while up the Matukituki Valley before heading up steeply through untracked terrain to Rocky Mountain. From the summit track they will get fantastic views of Mt Aspiring 2158m, Roy’s Peak 1569m and be able to look across to Treble Cone Sky Field plus stunning views of Lank Wanaka. If they still have the energy they will also be able to life their heads and see the finish line in Glendhu Bay creeping ever closer. For those looking for an adrenalin fix, there is a spectacular abseil above Diamond Lake, which always makes for some great photos.
