" The hardest individual stage of the race? Maybe? It's definitely one hell of a climb to the top of the Pisa Range but the views are sensational and the descent worth all the effort. Good bike skills will help competitors enjoy the downhill after the effort of the uphill. "

Adrian Bailey - COURSE DIRECTOR

STAGE 2 - MOUNTAIN BIKE

With the Clutha River conquered, competitors will turn their attention to an epic bike ride over the Pisa Range. The new course takes teams from Queensbury and on to unrelenting and uninterrupted first climb of 1700m towards Lake McKay. If that doesn’t put a dent in the legs, there is still another wee climb to be done, after the range is almost crossed, which will have competitors looking forward to the way down after almost 2000m of total ascent. The descent is huge and will reward those who know how to descend properly. The brakes will be in constant use for the last 30 minutes of the ride!
